LE02- Its about Goals

                                                                     Goals.
         The afternoon class just after lunch was thought to be a dull at first as all of us had litres of buttermilk, but then again as Dr. Mandi (as he is fondly called by fellow nitiezens) who never fail to surprise us came up with some games and asked us to observe what all we can learn from it. To begin with a goal setting exercise where i added a point of 'Vision' and 'Mission' and briefly described the difference between the two as 'Mission' is a goal where we have to reach and 'Vision' is the path which would lead us to that goal so as to how to go about it. Then Dr. Mandi mentioned a term 'SMART' goals, which I luckily recollected with some hazy abbreviation that I had in my mind, that goals should be 'Specific', 'Measurable', 'Achievable', 'Realistic', 'Time Bound',   which are self explanatory per se. and that how to go about it were expressed by our batch mates during the 'cube tower' game which was basically a role play on how organization works or rather should work like.

                                                         Cube Tower.

Objective : To build a cube tower of maximum height,(18 in our case) with 3 levels of organization playing part for the same, they are 1) Top Management 2) Managers and 3) Workers. 

Rules : 1)The Top Management can come only a couple of times during the whole task.
           2) Managers can only supervise the workers and cannot touch the cubes or the worker.
3) Worker is blindfolded and he can use only his left hand.

So then the exercise begin and with lots of discrepancies, frustration, pain, co-ordination, teamwork and patience the tower is finally built.

         During the 'Cube Tower' game, some observations that I made that you need to have extreme amount of patience and belief in your employees and effective communication is the key to any venture, company or be it a corporate relationship. It is the top management which can see if at all their sub-ordinates are deviating have to keep calm and do not have to show any anxiety in front of them rather work externally so as to make a conducive environment for their sub-ordinates and workers.
         The middle management where as has one of the most difficult task at hand of guiding the workers to work in sync with company's objective and ideology, and also have to convince the top level management that they are in complete control of the situation and willing to shoulder the onus of increasing the efficiency of the workers and that of the company. 
          The workers on the other hand after a point of time do not have a clue so as why only they have to  work beyond their capacity and stretch themselves, this is where the management should come into play and ask them to stick to the company's objective and guide them through to achieve their targets.

                                                               Summary.
I would like to summarize from the first day that Management tactics cannot be learnt alone through theory and classroom sessions but also through various subtle ways and through which  I feel we can relate to it in a lot better way.
